You can display monitors and subtrees with a symmetrical structure (see graphic) as a table in an ALV Grid Control using the analysis method CCMS_TREE_TO_ALVGRID:
Displaying extensive subtrees as a table makes them significantly clearer, as they require less space and you can therefore see all relevant attributes at a glance. As additional information, the performance attributes are averaged (for percentage values) or totaled (for absolute values) for all monitoring objects in the subtree and displayed in an overview table. To use this display, assign the analysis method CCMS_TREE_TO_ALVGRID to the superordinate node of the subtree.
This analysis method also provides you with the following functions:
· You can choose the time for which you want to display the attributes. In this way, you can display the current values, but also the values for a point in time that is between five minutes and 24 hours in the past.
· You can use all of the ALV Grid Control functions:
¡ You can display the table as a graphic.
¡ You can export the contents of the table in various formats, for example, as a Microsoft Excel file.
¡ You can change the layout of the table, sort the rows by any column, or use any filter of your choice.
· You can remove individual columns or rows from the display in the table.
· In the overview table, you can explicitly set an averaging or a totaling for individual performance attributes.
Prerequisites
Assign the analysis method CCMS_TREE_TO_ALVGRID only to monitoring tree elements (MTEs) that have a symmetrical, multi-level subtree. In the above graphic, for example, this applies for the node Subtree I, which has a multi-level subtree of depth two (First level: Monitoring objects A, B, C; Second Level: Performance Attributes 1, 2, 3) with identically structured branches.
Procedure
You can assign the analysis method CCMS_TREE_TO_ALVGRID unchanged to multiple nodes. However, if you want to set method parameters (see below), we recommend that you first copy the method and only assign and set the parameters with the method copy.
Copy and Release the Method (Optional)
...
1. Choose CCMS ® Configuration ® Alert Monitor, or call transaction RZ21.
2. In the Methods group box, select Method Definitions and choose Display Overview.
3. Select the method CCMS_TREE_TO_ALVGRID and choose Copy ().
4. Enter the desired name and save your entries.
5. You must release the copy as an analysis method. Choose change mode with the Display « Change () pushbutton.
6. Choose the Release tab page and in the Execute Method as group box, select Analysis Method. Save your entries.
Assign Method to an MTE or an MTE Class
...
1. Start the Alert Monitor using transaction RZ20 or choose CCMS® Control/Monitoring ® Alert Monitor.
2. Start the desired monitor from the list by double clicking it.
3. Select the desired node and choose Properties.
4. The Monitoring: Properties and Methods screen appears. Choose the Methods tab page and then choose the Method Assignment pushbutton. The Monitoring: Methods screen appears.
5. If you only want to assign the analysis method to this MTE, choose change mode with the Display « Change () button, and choose the Analysis tab page.
6. If you want to assign the analysis method to the selected MTE class, choose the name of the MTE class in the header data of the screen by double clicking it and choose change mode using the Display « Change () button.
7. Choose Method Name and in the associated field, enter CCMS_TREE_TO_ALVGRID or the name of the method copy that you have just created.
8. Save your entries.
Set the Method Parameter (Optional)
...
1. To set parameters for the method, select a node to which the method is assigned and choose Properties.
2. The Monitoring: Properties and Methods screen appears. Choose the Methods tab page and choose the name of the analysis method by double clicking it.
3. The Monitoring: Methods screen appears. Choose the Parameters tab page, and choose change mode with the Display « Change () pushbutton.
4. You can set a total of ten parameters; you can assign the following parameter values:
Parameter Value | Description |
NOD (No Display) | Assign the value NOD to a parameter name to suppress the display of a particular row or column. In the Parameter Name column, enter the performance attribute or monitoring object that you do not want to display. |
AVG (Average) | Assign the value AVG to a parameter name to explicitly display the average value for a column in the overview table. By default, normal numerical values in the overview table are totaled, while percentages are averaged. |
SUM (Summation) | Assign the value SUM to a parameter name to explicitly display the total value for a column in the overview table. |
Note that you must specify the desired parameter names exactly and without the units in square brackets (such as [%] or [MB]).
5. Save your entries.
Result
You have assigned the analysis method to the desired node. To start the method, choose the node by double clicking it. The system displays an ALV Grid Control with a table of the corresponding values.
