Most monitoring functions for monitoring jobs with the alert monitor relate tot he current job of a job chain. It is therefore important to know in each case which job in a job chain is the current job.
The current job of a job chain is defined as the job with the most recent scheduled start time, that is, the last job that was started or should have been started before the time of the most recent measurement.
A job with a start time in the future can be the current job, if the previous job was already completed before the last run of the data collection method. In this case, the next released job in the chain (in the future) becomes defined as the current job with the current run of the method.
Structure
The following situations can arise when determining the current job in a job chain:
· The current job is still running (times t1 and t4).
· The current job should already be running, but is not running because the start has been delayed (time t5).
· The current job was completed between the last and the current measurement (time t2).
· The current job was already completed before the last measurement. In this case, the next released job in the chain (in the future) is defined as the current job with the current measurement (time t3).
If multiple jobs in a job chain are currently running, the job with the newest start time is the current job.
