Mass user assignment

Question: Hi,
We have situation where we need to do Mass actvity groups assignment to all users in the system. Previously we had profiles assigned to users and it was complete mess. So we converted all profiles to Actvity groups, with same authorization values. Now we want to assign these newly created actvity grop to users. There are about 750 users and about 850 new activity groups created, is there any safe and better way(Apart from SCAT..) where we can do this type user assignment in one shot, through some transaction or program, by giving information in the required way.

Well for starters 750 user 850 roles?... Make you life simpler and delete 100 roles and create a role per user it will be easier to manage....You have too many roles.
Second depending on the version of SAP( since you use the term activity group I am assuming 4.0) SU10 can be useful, but as delivered by SAP

PFCG in versions 4.5+ is used for "one role many users" SU01 is for "one user many roles". There is no SAP delivered mass load utility.

Hi,
The SAP version is 4.6B, and all these days it was profile based maintainence and badly maintained. It was decided to go for activity group based.
As we had many profiles we converted all the profiles to activity Groups, and now we are left with user assignment. We thought of using SCAT, is there any other better way and safe way.

SCAT, LSMW etc are perfectly safe and fast ways to perform role assignment - unless you have any complex requirements, lots of roles currently in the UMR etc.

There are only 750 users, it really shouldn't be a problem.

You could get an ABAPER to knock something up but that may be overkill.

You could use a scripting tool but that could take a while to procure and set up. Something like quicktest will still give you similar problems unless you spend a fair while setting it up.
