Characteristic Authorisations in MM02/MM03

Question: We would like to change all the user authorisation profiles using MM02 & MM03 so that the C_TCLS_MNT authorisation object is checked.

The object works fine for the maintain characteristics aspect & restricts the users to updating only the specific characteristics allocated to the organisational area in their profile. However it also restricts the user to only being able to display the characteristics that they are allowed to maintain.

The object documentation suggests that adding any other activity other than Maintain into the profile will allow display only access. However the way in which we would like to implement this is that the user has access to maintain characteristics in Area A and to display characteristics in Area A & B.
If we set C_TCLS_MNT to Maintain for Org A in their profile, this is the only object value being checked on MM03 (looking at the trace), even if you add a second C_TCLS_MNT for Display on Org A&B.

We could remove the C_TCLS_MNT check from the MM03 transaction via SU24 and this should stop the issue . But I just wondered if there were any other approaches to this?

Thx for this but we have already applied these notes & they haven't solved this particularly problem. The notes seem to be more related to displaying texts on F4 matchcodes when this object is assigned to a user rather than displaying generally through MM03
