Creating a Connection to a Reference System

To import metadata from a reference system, you must provide the connection data required to connect to the system.

Note

This step is only necessary if the connection data for the system in question has not yet been entered in Enterprise Search. The connection data for a specific system is flagged with a connection ID (or connection data ID).

In the case of systems for which you have already created a search object connector or a template, the connection data has already been entered in the system and it is not necessary to create a connection here.

End of the note.

Procedure

  1. In the template modeler, choose the system group for which you want to create a connection to a back-end system.

The details of the selected system group appear at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Choose Create Connection.

  3. Enter the following data into the dialog box that now appears. Depending on the type of the search object connector template, for which you want to create a connection to a system, different parameters are required.

For SAP BO Search, SAP BO Search Service, and SAP BI Search, you must enter the following data:

    Screen Element

    Value

    System ID

Enter the system ID of the R/3 4.6C, R/3 4.7, ERP 6.0 (ERP 2005), or BI system that you want to connect to Enterprise Search.

    Client

Enter the client number of the system.

    System Number

    Enter the system number.

    Application Server

Enter the name of the application server.

    User; Password

Enter the name and password of a service user in the back-end system.

    Note

In the case of SAP ERP 6.0, the role SAP_BC_SES_ADMIN must be assigned to this user.

On SAP R/3 4.6C and R/3 Enterprise (4.7) systems, this user must have the following authorizations:

    • Profile S_BI-WX_RFC

    • Authorization to run transactions SU01 and PFCG

    • Authorization for the S_USER_GRP authorization object with:

      • Authorization field ACTVT * (all)

      • Authorization field CLASS * (all authorization groups)

    • Authorization for the S_USER_PRO authorization object with:

      • Authorization field ACTVT * (all)

      • Authorization field PROFILE with the value SI_BI-WX_RFC

    End of the note.
  4. Choose Create Connectivity.

  5. If you want to create connections to other systems, choose Add to add another row to the list of availabel back-end systems and enter the connectivity data as described above.

  6. When you have completed these steps, close the dialog box to return to the template modeler overview.

You can now add the systems for which you have entered the connectivity data for a system group.
