Updating SAP Kernel in UNIX

Here is the Procedure to Update your SAP Kernel

• Stop all R/3 Processes and the Database
  % stopsap all ------\Hit Enter\
• Stop SAPOSCOL process
  % saposcol -d ------ \Hit Enter\
  collector\>kill ------\Hit Enter\
• Stop ListnerControl process by logging in as ora user
  %lsnrctrl stop ------\Hit Enter\
• Download Kernel Patches
• Copy Them to a directory on Central Instance
• Backup Your Old Kernel (by renaming it or moving it)
• uncar the downloaded files
• After that restart your services in following order
• Listner
• SAPOSCOL
• Database
• R/3
